Profile Description

Gerties History

Micky and Mary bought the pub in December 1993, changing the name from The Hooker, and naming it after the owners at the turn of the century.. Accompanied by Mick Cas., Micky transformed the pub into its present old world style.
The pub dates back over 1000 years, being a hosttilery for travellers going west and also acted as a carriage house.

The pub is full of old bric a brac, for visitors to browse and a famous feature of the pub is its train which travels around over head the bottom bar. We have Traditional music every Monday night provided by The Louugh Ree Islanders and all musicians are welcome.
We also have a good sporting interest, with fans off all sports drinking in the Pub. Along with Wards pub in Baylough we have formed a Golfing Society.
The pubs most colorful character is Athlones famous Jimmy Collins, a man you have to meet.Click here to read more and see some pictures of Jimmy
