Fitzgeralds pub has been owned by the Kelly family since 1986 when it was known as The Fountain, but in1996 Avoca was used as location of the hugely successful BBC TV Drama ‘Ballykissangel’. The pub was renamed as Fitzgeralds for the series but as the Ballykissangel fans flocked to see the beautiful village the Kellys decided to leave that name over the door!
This premises has over a 200 year history, with manys a tale about the miners who passed through the doors while the copper mines were still in action. During the last century when the pub was called ‘The Fountain Hotel and Bar’ it was visited by Walt Disney, Mae West, the Queen of Tonga, Thomas Moore to name but a few.
Fantastic food in one of the most spectacular settings describes this wonderful pub in Avoca. It is a featured lunch stop on the Day Tour of Wicklow with Coach Tours of Ireland.
